Movie Research: Scream VI

  1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

Scream VI focuses on many elements related to the final task which includes involving a mystery surrounding the killer's identity, with twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the audience guessing, and explicit violence and gore, "Scream" films typically include creatively staged and visually impactful kill scenes, and the whodunit element.

2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?

I liked the use of dry humor like having the killer try making jokes while trying to kill the victims and its use of pop culture references. I also liked the mystery and whodunit about which character was the killer/killers.

3. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

I didn't enjoy how there wasn't a lot of character development, and how they had unrealistic plot points that made me feel the movie was too far-fetched and unoriginal. I also felt like the pacing was inconsistent at points which negatively impacted the overall storytelling of the film.
