Movie Research: Totally Killer

Image
1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? The movie "Totally Killer" has many conventions that relate to what our final task is. It is trying to solve a murder mystery surrounded by the death of her mom by going back in time to find the killer before her mom gets killed. This theme is mostly revolved around what we are doing.  The movie has a lot of abandoned sets, dark lighting, gore, weapon props, etc, which similarly explains the idea for our final task.  2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like? I loved how it was comparing the new age to the old age. The time travel plot really adds to the thrill of the horror aspect. I also love watching horror movies with jump scares because they engage the audience, which this movie definitely has. The costumes of the main characters were amazing as well as the makeup to represent the 80's and the 21st century. I also loved the comedy

Movie Research: M3GAN

   1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?    M3GAN incorporates many elements that our group has chose to base our final task on. For one, it stars a lonely young girl, who seems to have lost everything. The movie seems to have the perfect amount of suspense, which will 100 percent be used in our project. Darker lighting was another thing that stood out during this movie, adding to the skeptical feeling of the audience. Our final task will be heavily based on all of these conventions, which M3GAN seems to incorporate well.    2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?    Although M3GAN is a horror movie, it still uses comedy. Sometimes rather dark, but appealing to the audience as it reassures them that it is still something that they should enjoy. We are also a fan on how it has a deeper meaning than the one presented, which is how to deal with grief. It isn't apparent, so nothi

Movie Research: Scream VI

Image
   1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre that you chose to base your final task on does this movie have? Scream VI focuses on many elements related to the final task which includes involving a mystery surrounding the killer's identity, with twists, turns, and red herrings to keep the audience guessing, and explicit violence and gore, "Scream" films typically include creatively staged and visually impactful kill scenes, and the whodunit element.  2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?  I liked the use of dry humor like having the killer try making jokes while trying to kill the victims and its use of pop culture references. I also liked the mystery and whodunit about which character was the killer/killers.  3. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?  I didn't enjoy how there wasn't a lot of character development, and how they had unrealistic plot points that made me feel th

Our Genre Decision!

Image
Collectively, we have decided to fall under the horror genre. The reason for this is because we believe that this genre will perfectly capture all aspects of the film we are planning to incorporate. The final task is only two minutes, but with horror, it is easy for the purpose to come across in a short period of time. With what we are basing our movie off of, it will add an eerie feeling, making it more intriguing to the audience. Horror will define the threatening situation our characters will be in and will keep the audience on the edge of their seat. Our group also feels that horror is not only fun to watch, but also fun to construct. All of this came into play when deciding our genre, horror.

Pitch Blog

Pitch A: A serial killer is in town, and a girl is the next victim, but she never left her bed.   Pitch B: A girl joins a dating app, but meeting her "dream guy" quickly goes south.  Discuss Pitch A- Our group quickly came up with a lot of filming ideas for this pitch. The different props and locations we would be using are easy access. There happens to be a common theme in this idea, which seems to be something our group takes particular interest in. All of us would be a part in the acting, whether a main character or side character. This enables us to do something we are all interested in and feel included in the film.   Discuss Pitch B- Although this idea seemed great in theory, considering the fact we are all under 18, accessing a dating site will be near impossible. It also was very difficult to streamline what the context of the film was going to be. However, the reason for wanting to do this was simply because of how interesting the idea would be to make. This time,

Overall I am looking forward to working with everyone in my group. The new project we are starting is our final task. This is where we will make an opening sequence of an original film. I chose to work with this group because I get along with them well. I also chose to work with them because of their success in the last project. I am very much looking forward to working with them. They are all very smart and very good people. We believe that we can make a really good film together. We don't know what are roles would be yet, but we will

What's up my name is Aidan Poole and I am a sophomore at FLHS. I am 16 years old. I am very interested in football, especially with the NFL season about to start. I am in multiple fantasy leagues where you draft NFL players and make your own team based on the players you draft. It is a good way to connect with your friends outside of school and in a fun environment. Recently I've started to go boating with friends out in the ocean and inland. Last Saturday I went with 2 friends on a 44-foot boat to go deep-sea fishing. We ended up catching 12 fish between the 3 of us. When I'm not on the water or at school I am at the gym with friends or attending football games. I started going to the gym in January because I wasn't happy with how I saw myself. Since then I've lost over 40lbs due to consistently going to the gym and implementing a new diet. It has helped me so much with my physical and mental help because it has drawn me closer to a lot of people. I am also a very

How does my product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My music video conveys the stress relieved on a dayoff from school, work, and/or life. This shown by the characters body language. Which reflects the carefree and relaxed nature of a day off. Slower movements, comfortable postures, and carefree gestures can all contribute to this portrayal. Another way to see the relieved stress is the characters facial expressions. Which captures genuine smiles, sighs of relief, and expressions of contentment to convey the emotional satisfaction that accompanies a well-deserved break. Another way it conveys the stress relived day is the relaxed day he has. The video shows the character engaging in relatable and enjoyable lazy day activities, such as lounging on the beach, casually strolling through the mall, and chilling at home. The visuals should emphasize the joy and freedom associated with taking a break. Another thing that shows the calming affec

Reflection for Lazy Song Music Video

Image
This project has allowed me to express myself and learn new things. Like being able to upload videos on YouTube and edit videos on iMovie. I also learned how to edit pictures together using transitions and putting music in the background. I think on the next project I should give myself more time to complete each step separately instead of doing them all at once. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed making this music video and can't wait to do more projects in the future.

Production Blog: Types of Angles

Image
Today I am going to be talking about the types of angles I used. Close-up shots became a canvas for capturing the emotions and expressions of the protagonist. Like when he smiles during spontaneous moments. These intimate shots added a layer of relatability. Drawing the audience into the heart of the music video. I used POV shots. Like, when I was on the beach after it cut from showing the water rushing my feet it switched perspectives to the protagonist. Which allowed the audience to experience the warmth of the environment. It also captures the beauty of the natural environment. I also used tracking shots. I used tracking shots when I was at the mall. When I was looking at the clothing rack I used the tracking shot because it allowed the audience to experience what was going on like they were there themselves. I also used low-angle shots. I used low-angle shots when I was driving from the beach to the mall. I decided to use low-angle because it shows the importance of the protagonis

Production Blog: The Editing

Image
Today I started editing. I gathered all my videos into one photo album. Where I uploaded my videos to my computer. This is where I uploaded my clips to iMovie. This is the app I used for editing. Color became my magic wand. I used warm tones to give the video that sun glow. It was like turning up the brightness on a summer day. Each frame got a personal touch, making sure the video looked as cool as it felt.  Editing everything together came together like a puzzle. Every clip fits perfectly in the grand scheme of the video. Things that I have enjoyed about iMovie is its user-friendliness. Another thing I've enjoyed is how easy it is to use transitions. Users can choose from a selection of built-in transitions to add smooth visual effects between clips, enhancing the overall flow of the video. Since I have an Apple phone and computer it made it even easier to get everything on my computer too. Overall I have really enjoyed the editing process on this project more than my previous o

Production Blog: Wrapping Up Filming

Image
Today is my last day of filming. I had planned the day at school. I would go to the gym after school. Then I would go home and eat. Then I would finish up filming. When I got home I went to my room. I got my bed made and crawled into it. I then got my mom to film me "waking up". Then she helped me film the scene of me falling asleep. I got up closed my blinds and turned off all the lights except the light on my bedside table. Then I got my mom to record me turning off the light and going to sleep. Then after I finished that scene I went out to the living room. Then I turned the TV on and put on a football game. I then set up my camera and recorded myself watching the game. Then I switched into the outfit I bought on the previous day. Then I recorded myself watching my favorite movie. After I finished filming I changed clothes. After I changed I added the new videos to the album. Then I put them in order in the album in which they will appear in the video. Next, I will move o

Production Blog: Starting to Film

Image
Today I started to film. The first place I went was the beach. I picked the beach because it's the farthest from my house. I also picked to go there first because it required daylight to film. When I got to the beach I had to find parking. It was awful, the beach was packed. Eventually, I found a parking spot, parked, and grabbed the chair I needed out of the trunk. Then I headed over to the beach. I found a spot where not too many people were. Then I began to set my chair down right where the waves were coming up. Then I had to set up my camera. After I set up my camera I sat down and waited till the waves hit my feet. After a couple of different times, I finally got the shot I wanted. Then I stayed at the beach to relax for myself for a couple of hours. Then I got all my stuff packed up and headed back to the car. Around this time it began to be getting dark outside. So then I got in the car I set up my phone to get the car scene filmed. So I started driving while my phone was f

Production Blog: Continuing to Film

Image
Today I resumed filming. I only have to drive to one more place, the mall. So when I got home from school I went to the gym. Then I drove to the mall. The store I chose to film in was Macy's. I then found a hoodie and sweatpants. Then I hung them up on a rack. Then I pulled my camera out and began to film. I filmed myself going through the rack searching for an outfit. Eventually, the protagonist finds the 2 pieces of clothing. Then I stopped filming. I then walked over to the dressing room. Once I got in the dressing room I changed into the outfit. After getting on the outfit I began to start resetting up the camera. Then I recorded myself being happy in my new outfit. After I finished in the dressing room I went to the counter and bought the clothes. Then I drove home and added all the clips I had to an album. Then when I got home I was going to continue filming. But I was very exhausted from the day. I then finished up my homework and went to sleep.

Production Blog: Finding the Right Location

Image
Today I began the production of my music video. This started by finding an environment that suited the style my music video was going to have. The song I chose was Lazy Song by Bruno Mars. This song is calm and has a warm tone. This should be reflected in the environment and surroundings. In the heart of creativity and rhythm, I embarked on an exciting journey to bring Bruno Mars' laid-back anthem, 'The Lazy Song,' to life in a vibrant and visually captivating music video. So I chose to set my first scene in my bedroom. I picked my room because for my character it is his safe space and a place where he feels warm, comfy, and safe. The next scene features my character's living room. Where he is watching football on his day off.  He is choosing to do that because he loves football and it gives him a sense of purpose. For the next scene, I chose to use Fort Lauderdale Beach. I chose this beach because it is a very clean and calm beach and fits the theme of being warm and

Storyboard

Image
This is my storyboard. It shows the outline of my music video. Where first I am waking up in the morning realizing it's my day off. Then the next panel reveals I am sitting down watching football. Then there is a transition from myself on the couch to the beach where I am sitting in a chair having the waves hit my feet. Then it cuts to me getting a ride to an unknown destination. The next shot is myself in a store in a mall picking out a new comfy outfit. Then the next shot features me trying on the clothes in the dressing room making sure they fit perfectly. The next shot shows me relaxing in my new outfit watching a movie. Then the last shot shows me entering my cozy bed and going to sleep.
