Movie Research: Totally Killer

1. What elements (Conventions) of the genre you chose to base your final task on does this movie have?

The movie "Totally Killer" has many conventions that relate to what our final task is. It is trying to solve a murder mystery surrounded by the death of her mom by going back in time to find the killer before her mom gets killed. This theme is mostly revolved around what we are doing.  The movie has a lot of abandoned sets, dark lighting, gore, weapon props, etc, which similarly explains the idea for our final task.

2. What elements (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that you like?

I loved how it was comparing the new age to the old age. The time travel plot really adds to the thrill of the horror aspect. I also love watching horror movies with jump scares because they engage the audience, which this movie definitely has. The costumes of the main characters were amazing as well as the makeup to represent the 80's and the 21st century. I also loved the comedy bits to ease the audience with comic relief.

3. What element (Conventions) of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?

As much as I love Totally Killer some things did not appeal to me. The first thing was the mask that the killer used. When I first saw the killer wearing the mask I almost felt that the movie wasn't serious enough because of it. For how serious the situation was in the movie, the mask made me laugh. Another thing was some of the scenes were very unnecessary and didn't give much to the plot. Although this movie had minimal downs, it was very fun to watch and is overall a great horror movie and this will give us a ton of inspiration.
